Hiking: is a popular activity in Tampere as the town is surrounded by forests. The Pyynikki and Kauppi forests offer memorable hiking experiences.

Fishing: enthusiasts can indulge in their favourite pastime at the Tammerkoski rapids that run through the city centre. You will need to acquire a permit from the Tourist Office in order to fish in Tampere.
Cruising: to Hameenlinna is a great way to relax in the summer and observe the surroundings of Tampere. The journey takes eight hours and lunch and refreshments are included.
Sauna: saunas are an ideal way to relax in the cold winter months. Rajaportin sauna, the oldest public sauna in Finland boasts an old-school sauna stove with a great amount of heated stones.
Ice swimming: is best enjoyed after a sauna. When you come out of the heated room, jump in a hole drilled into the ice cover of lake. The water is freezing but unbelievably refreshing at -4°C.

Dining: in Tampere is a great way to spend an evening. Local food is abundant and excellent value for money while international cuisine is also plentiful and offers dishes from all over the world.
