Helsinki Travel Guide
In 2005, more than 11 million passengers made their way to Helsinki-Vantaa, the highest number in the airport’s history. The facility is well-organised and well-equipped, featuring two separate terminals; one handling domestic traffic (Terminal 1) and the other, international flights (Terminal 2).
Banking services and ATMs are readily available throughout the airport and currency exchanges can be found conveniently located in the airport’s International Terminal.
Airport information: +358 200 14636

Transportation: the Helsinki Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive from the centre, but only about four miles from the town of Tikkurila in Vantaa and 16 miles from the town of Tapiola in Espoo. Highway 45 connects the airport area with Helsinki via the airport road, known as Keha III. The airport is serviced by a comprehensive variety of public transport options.
Taxis are readily available outside the terminal buildings, bus services operate frequently and free hotel shuttles provide transfers as well. Bus stops are situated at the arrivals area outside both terminals, although you’ll find that the stop outside International Arrivals is the busier one, with more frequent service headed for a larger number of destinations. The trip to Helsinki by bus takes approximately 40 minutes.
Parking: there are a number of parking options at the airport, in lots that are all within reasonable distance of the terminals. The ‘lomaparkki’ parking areas are priced economically for longer-term parking requirements; ‘bisnesparkki’ areas most suitable for parking of up to one day and ‘pikaparkki’ areas for stays of up to a few hours. Parking is paid at automated machines in the airport terminals and can also be paid by credit card on exiting the parking facilities.
