Introduction to Pyhatunturi, Finland
Pyhatunturi is found in the Lapland region of Finland, in the east of the country, close to the border with Russia. The area is most famous for its national park, Pyha-Luosto National Park, which was established in 2005 after the joining the oldest national park in Finland, Pyhatunturi National Park, with Luosto National Park. This has now made the area home to both the oldest and newest national parks in Finland. The area is popular among tourists who arrive to take part in various outdoor activities, and Pyhatunturi hotels are located around the national park. The most notable sight in the area is the steep Pyhakuru Gorge between the Ukon-hattu and Kultakero peaks, while towards the park's southeastern corner is a bird-watching tower which offers the perfect vantage point to take in the region's nature and wildlife. Pyhatunturi is also a popular ski resort and boasts Finland's fourth-biggest vertical. Skiing is provided for all abilities and there is even a nature ski trail running through the national park. other spellings: pyhatunturi otel, pihatunturi hotell, pyhetunturi hote, pyhatuntori hotles, pehatunri
