Joutsa is a municipality of approximately 4,000 inhabitants in the south central region of Finland that goes by the same name. The main draws of the area are the clean environment, the beautiful lakes and the variable countryside landscape. Joutsa is situated by Highway 4, which connects the town directly to the capital, Helsinki, roughly 200kms to the south. Daily express coaches run to the capital. The town provides ample amenities, with two large supermarkets and a number of smaller, specialised shops which sell textiles, furniture, sports equipment and more. Joutsa offers a variety of recreational activities to accommodate almost every taste. There are many hiking trails and pleasant walking paths, an abundance of fresh water with limitless opportunities of water activities, and breathtaking natural beauty. Joutsan Pommi sports club is said to be the country's best sports club and offers a number of excellent ski tracks. There are few Joutsa hotels to choose from but accommodation is available in the centre of the town at affordable rates.
