Ikaalinen is a small town and municipality towards the southwest of Finland. It is situated in Western Finland Province and is part of the region of Pirkanmaa. The population of the town is just under 7,500 inhabitants. Ikaalinen has been a relatively popular tourist destination for some time, with its spa dating back to the 1900s and the local folk music, particularly accordion music, being among the town's traditions. The town lies by Lake Kyrosjarvi, and there are a number of Ikaalinen hotels to be found either looking across the lake or in the town centre. Another draw of the town is the beautiful landscape on offer, both in the town and in the surrounding areas. Most of the lake is surrounded by large green areas suitable for hiking and nature enthusiasts. Ikaalinen has good transport links, with the E12 route which leads to Tampere and then Helsinki running through the centre of the town.
