Introduction to Iisalmi, Finland
Iisalmi, a town in Finland, is located in Eastern Finland Province, in the region of Northern Savonia. It is situated right in the centre of the country and is home to Finland's last major independent beer brewery, Olvi. The Brewery Museum is free to visit and provides an interesting insight into the beer's brewing process; although free samples are not included in the tour, a beer hall is attached to the site. The town is built around numerous scenic lakes which provide nice areas for walking. It may be a small town, but there are several cultural events which take place throughout the year, with one of the most popular being the Rompepaivat. During this event, people bring along all kinds of items, from tiny things like sewing needles to vehicles such as tractors, in order to sell what they can. Other things including restored cars and motorcycles are on show for people to view, some of which are for sale. Iisalmi hotels are located in the town centre, although budget accommodation is limited. other spellings: iisalmihotels, isalmi otel, iisami hotell, iiselmi hote, iisalme hotles, isalmi hotle
