The small Finnish city of Hyvinkaa sits some 50kms to the north of the Helsinki, where it provides a popular suburban community for the capital. Transport links are good and there is plenty of fresh air, greenery and culture to keep visitors happy. Much of the town's fame comes from industry. Konecranes, one of the world's biggest producers of cranes, elevators and escalators, is based here. The town is also home to Ruokangas, Finland's top maker of electric guitars. The Finnish Railway Museum is only a few minutes from hotels in Hyvinkaa City Centre and is a popular tourist destination. The town's most famous building is its Modernist church. Designed by Aarno Ruusuvuori and built in 1961, the pyramid-shaped building is impossible to miss. The two courses at Kytaja Golf Club, about 25 minutes to the west of town, are also extremely popular with visitors and sit amidst beautiful forested scenery. The art museum is right in the centre of the city and features a variety of mostly-local artists. The textiles museum at the former textiles plant tells the story of a century of wool processing in the town.
