Introduction to Espoo, Finland
The city of Espoo is the second largest settlement in Finland. It is located immediately to the west of the capital, and is actually considered to be part of the Great Finland metropolitan area. Today, the area is rapidly increasing in population, largely due to the development of industry in the town. It was a dormitory community for Helsinki for some time, but now boasts an exciting range of industry. Hotels in Espoo are generally convenient and inexpensive when compared to those in its neighbour, Helsinki. Many holiday tourists visiting the capital choose to stay here because of its close proximity to the capital, yet quieter atmosphere. Apart from being a base for daytrips into Helsinki, the city also is handy to Nuuksio National Park, which is one of Finland’s most beautiful nature reserves.
