Fiji Travel Guide - Activities

Swimming: certain areas of the islands do present dangers to swimmers due to strong tides and large waves but if you’re staying at a resort, chances are the beach will be perfectly safe for swimming and there may also be a pool.
Thanks to the incredibly warm Pacific waters around the Fijjian islands, where temperatures rarely fall below 25°C even during the cooler months of June and July, swimming is an activity that can be enjoyed any time of year.
Sailing: Fijji is as popular with sailors as it is with scuba divers thanks to the huge number of islands to explore. Many travellers visit by yacht every year to see the country at their own pace but you needn’t own a multi-million dollar boat to go sailing in Fijji.
Pleasure boat trips are widely available in major tourist centres throughout the islands, lasting anything from a few hours up to a couple of weeks.
And you will enjoy the scenery; although cyclists might want to keep off the well-travelled thoroughfares given the dangerous driving which is pervasive in Fijji. Tourist resorts will often hire out bikes but those that want to get hold of something hard-wearing should try in Suva.
