By car: the N6 is the major road to Galway from Dublin, with the drive of 140 miles taking around 3 hours. The route travels through a number of Irish towns. From Cork, the N20 connects with the N18, leading to Galway; and the N24, from Wexford, also connects with the N18.
By rail: travelling by train from Dublin to Galway takes about the same time as driving, around 3 hours, and can be a bit more relaxing, with bar and restaurant service available on most trains. There are stops at most major towns; advanced booking is not usually required. Ceannt Station in Galway is just off Eyre Square in the city centre.
By air: Galway Airport is around four miles from the city and has developed into a regional hub, with scheduled, daily services from Dublin and Cork, in Ireland; Cardiff, London Luton, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Belfast City and Birmingham, in the UK; and Lorient in France.
Facilities at the airport include free Internet (WiFi) access, a cafe and bar. Although there is no bus service connecting the airport with the centre, taxis are readily available, as is car hire service.
