It gained the title of Ireland’s cultural capital many centuries ago and the title of European Capital of Culture in 1991. Dublin has also famously been the home of a number of internationally recognised writers including James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker and Samuel Beckett. Added to its attraction is the large number of museums and galleries that document the city’s history.
