Introduction to Wicklow County, Ireland
The town of Wicklow is found in the county of Wicklow, about halfway along the eastern coastline of the Republic of Ireland. Hotels in Wicklow are available although there isn’t a large selection. The city is quite easy to get to, even though it doesn’t have its own airport. Dublin is only about 40kms to the north of Wicklow. The town also sits on the N11 highway, making some of the hotels in Wicklow important rest area for drivers passing through. Wicklow Harbour is the most important feature of the town, accounting for a high percentage of Wicklow’s economy. The town has several attractions worth visiting, with some positioned just a short distance from Wicklow hotels. The old gaol lures thousands of visitors each year, in addition to the Town Hall and the Franciscan Abbey. The Murrough is also a popular place for locals and visitors alike keen for a brisk stroll beside the sea.
