Introduction to Waterford City, Ireland
Waterford is Ireland's oldest city, but don't think for a second that it is behind in the times. Yes, there are plenty of medieval attractions found here along with a slow-paced culture to be experienced. Yet Waterford is anything but dull. Visiting seasons don't exist, as tourists are likely to experience rainy, grey days more often than not throughout the calendar. However, the city easily offers enough bastions to combat the wet weather. The historical sites found in the city are second to none. The Reginald Tower is the most prominent structure in the city; a rounded building that sits across from the William Wallace Plaza in the Quay district. The old Granary Building is home to another famous landmark. Here, visitors can explore the Waterford Treasures Museum, which displays fine exhibitions relating to the city's heritage. Of course, no trip to the city is complete without watching locals craft crystal and glass at the Waterford Crystal factory. Waterford hotels are mostly found in the centre of the city, but there are options closer to the coastal areas outside of town.Visit our Waterford City Travel Guide
