Improvements in Ireland’s road network in the past decade have helped the small town of Portlaoise in the central county of Laoise to grow. Although the development has brought additional housing and shopping facilities to the town there are only a few hotels in Portlaoise. The only real attraction of the town is that its location makes it an ideal stopping off point on the way to or from Dublin for those touring in Ireland.
