There are a number of things to see in Kilkenny, with the main focal point being the 12th century castle. There are also a number of interesting cathedrals and churches, and the town itself is a pleasant place to stroll around. The Black Abbey was built under the instruction of William Marshall in the 13th century, the Black Abbey became a courthouse in the 16th century before returning to its role as a church in the 1800s. There are some wonderful stained glass windows and some interesting statues to view. The abbey was also known as The Convent of the One and Undivided Trinity.
