Introduction to Galway City, Ireland
The cosmopolitan city of Galway is the centre of Western Ireland's tourism industry and shouldn't be passed up by any traveller. Despite being used primarily as an accommodation base for the surrounding region, Galway is a worthwhile place to experience in its own right. Everything from shopping to museums are available for tourists' entertainment. Without a doubt, the most attractive feature in the town is the shopping district found close to Eyre Square. It is great for finding a huge range of products or an afternoon walk, especially from one of the surrounding Galway hotels. The Spanish Arch is one of the more historical landmarks in the town and can be found overlooking the gushing Corrib River. The Galway City Museum is one of the main sites in the city, offering a superb collection of both local and regional exhibitions. For families, the Galway Atlantaquaria is perhaps the most friendly and appropriate landmark for travellers of all ages. The Promenade, with its diving board at the far end, is a wonderful spot to watch the world go by.Visit our Galway City Travel Guide
