Introduction to Cork City - Airport
A city of some 200,000 people lying on the banks of Ireland's River Lee, Cork is a hugely popular tourist destination, thanks to a proliferation of historic buildings, cultural attractions, fine shopping and a bustling, buzzing energy that keeps it popular with large numbers of young people. The city enjoys a world-class selection of restaurants, pubs, bars and live-music venues. Hotels at Cork Airport provide visitors with a handy location that makes it easy to visit the city centre, as well as reach destinations to the south. A huge number of airlines offer many flights to a wide range of cities. The N27 highway runs to the east of the airport, putting Cork centre and the main railway station just 15 minutes away. St Finbar's Cathedral, a 19th century Gothic building, looks fantastic against the skyline and is popular with tourists. A few minutes to the west of the cathedral is Elizabeth Fort, which provides excellent views across the city. Heading yet farther to the west will bring you to the impressive grounds of historic University College.Visit our Cork City Travel Guide
