Introduction to Clare County - Bunratty
With its striking 13th century castle as a centrepiece, the village of Bunratty is steadily gaining a prominent role in Ireland's tourism sector. The castle is famous for its medieval banquets featuring entertainers that recreate the dining experience of centuries past as well as the adjoining Folk Park, a living museum that offers a rare glimpse into 19th century rural Irish life. Bunratty itself contains a fair selection of pubs, restaurants and other amenities which mostly cater to the tourists who come to see the castle. One of the village's original pubs, Dirty Nells, is still open. The Woolen Mills outlet, selling everything from local crystal to knitwear, and the Winery, where traditional mead can be sampled, are two other popular attractions here. There are some lovely Bunratty hotels on the outskirts of the village and plenty more accommodation in nearby Shannon. It's easy to reach Bunratty from anywhere in the UK thanks to its proximity to Shannon Airport, just a few kilometres away. This accessibility is helping to make this tiny hamlet one of the most visited spots in Clare County.other spellings: bunrattyhotels, bunraty otel, banratty hotell, banraty hote, bunritty hote
