Sightseeing: with its splendid cathedral, Roman and Viking remains as well as its many medieval artefacts, York is most definitely a tourist’s dream. There is plenty to see of interest even for those that usually bristle at the thought of a museum.
Cycling: the weather might not always be up to it, but York is one of the most bicycle-friendly places in the country with numerous trails into and leading out of the city.
Boating: visitors can hire a boat with or without a captain for trips up and down the river Ouse. All excursions are charged by the hour.
