By air: situated six miles northwest of the city in Woolsington, Newcastle Airport operates a number of services to major UK cities, Scandinavia and Western Europe. The airport provides a convenient access to northeast England. Low-cost airlines including EasyJet also offer scheduled flights from Newcastle Airport.
The airport features banking services, bureau de change, ATMs, shops, eateries and facilities for those flying with disabilities. The metro connects the airport to the city centre and there are also bus and taxis available.
By bus: bus travel around the UK is cheap and efficient. National Express coaches leave for Newcastle from other cities in the UK regularly. The main coach station is located at Gallowgate.
By car: it is fairly easy to drive to Newcastle as the city is well linked by the motorways. The A1 (M) connects Newcastle to the south of England and London. The journey from London to Newcastle takes about five hours. You can also opt for the M1 or M18 from the same area. If you travel from the west coast, take the A69 Carlisle-Newcastle road.
