Theatre is a major attraction for both visitors and local residents. The West End shows feature big name productions and top celebrities, with most of them centred around Shaftsbury Avenue and Charing Cross Road.

The Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Court have some excellent modern plays and plenty of Shakespeare productions. Opera fans should head to either The English National Opera or the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Music lovers are spoilt for choice for venues and the different styles.

The legendary Ronnie Scott's in Soho has some great jazz artists and Camden is famed for several good live venues. England is well known for its pubs so you won't have to go very far to find a watering hole. There are plenty of stylish and trendy bars in the city centre, but you can also find traditional taverns that are hundreds of years old and provide a completely different type of atmosphere. London has a huge gay scene and there are bars all over the city, although the highest concentration can be found along Old Compton Street in Soho.
