By air: Blackpool is serviced by flights from nearby points such as Belfast, Dublin, the Isle of Man and London Stansted. Holiday charters fly between Blackpool and Alicante, Majorca, Tenerife and Jersey; and less-frequent services connect Blackpool with European cities such as Prague, Vienna, and Venice among others. This is one of the UK’s fastest-growing airports, with the budget carrier Jet2 having a base in Blackpool and servicing some of the routes mentioned.
By road: the M55 connects with the M6, making Blackpool easily accessible from all parts of Britain by road. A motorway link takes traffic directly to the centre of the resort.
By train: convenient rail service connects Blackpool with most cities in England. From London, between 10 and 12 Inter-City trains run per day, with a trip time of 4 hours; from Manchester there are around 35 per day via Preston, with the trip taking 1 hour, 15 minutes; and a local shuttle service making for a speedier, direct journey of 30 minutes, running on the half-hour.
By ferry: much of the ferry service to the Blackpool area is seasonal, and the closest ferries are the ones operating to Fleetwood from Larne, and Heysham, which is near Morecambe; and the services from Douglas, on the Isle of Man and Belfast, which operate during the summer season only.
