The Clifford’s Tower is located right in the heart of the city, this former fortress was first built by William the Conqueror following the Norman invasion in 1066, before it was rebuilt by Henry III in the 13th century. Today, the structure is partially ruined but still well worth a visit not least for its unparalleled views out across the city.
