Introduction to Wigan, England
Wigan is found in the county of Lancashire, in the northwest of England, and could be regarded as something of a typical old northwest town. Its reason for being dates back to the coal mining industry and the days of the textile mills. Hotels in Wigan are set to provide a service to travellers using the nearby M6, who often use the town as a stopping point when going north or south. The town is also close enough to both Liverpool and Manchester to make a stop here a good option for daytrips. The author George Orwell made the town famous in his book The Road to Wigan Pier, with the pier being a popular landmark. Visitors can enjoy a pint in the pub named after the author when visiting the pier. The heritage centre at Trencherfield Mill is worth a visit for the valuable insight into the workings of this one-time mill that it offers.other spellings: wijanhotel, wegan otell, wigen hote, wegan hotles, vigan hotle, wigann hotes
