Introduction to Washington, England
Washington is found in the northeast of England and has redeveloped as a centre for car manufacturing. Located close to the industrial city of Sunderland, the town has a good number of Washington hotels that provide a good night’s sleep for those stopping here on journeys from the north to the south of England, and vice versa. In the town, one of the main attractions is the house where the ancestors of American President George Washington, after who the town is named, lived. The property is now owned by the National Trust, and provides an insight into the family. This Tyne and Wear town isn't a tourist destination as such, but it does have a handful of sights that may appeal to those passing through. A nature reserve belonging to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust offers respite from the area’s busier spots while the Washington 'F' Pit museum of mining will interest those who want to know more about the town’s industrial past.
