Introduction to Wallingford, England
Lying on the west side of the River Thames, Wallingford in Oxfordshire is a popular market town with both domestic and international tourists. Wallingford hotels are plentiful and the town is chocked full of attractions from the Cholsey and Wallingford steam railway station to the Corn Exchange and its fascinating accompanying museum. The castle gardens can still be visited where ruins of the 9th century building can be explored and photographed at your leisure. The town is popular with sports fans too and features its own rugby, cricket and football teams. There is also a tennis club, a hockey club and a rowing club - the latter of which has its headquarters right on the banks of the river. Visitors can head to the high street for a range of restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as a good selection of shops. During the summertime, there is a folk festival which draws huge crowds.
