Introduction to Stonehouse, England
Stonehouse is an urban area in the Stroud District of the English county of Gloucestershire. The town is just a few kilometres east of the M5 motorway and has its own railway station which provides a regular service to London. Stonehouse is situated roughly five kilometres west of Stroud and approximately 20kms south of Gloucester. Despite having a relatively small population of around 7,000 people, the town offers excellent public amenities and recreational facilities. There are 20-acre playing fields, recreational walking grounds and several play areas for children throughout the town. There are few Stonehouse hotels, but the ones that are here offer an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Cotswold area. There are many nearby villages which are worth visiting for the opportunity to sample the traditional English pub. In addition, there are many scenic hiking trails and cycling parks in the area as well as the opportunity to take a boat trip along the Stroudwater Canal which runs just south of Stonehouse.
