Introduction to Southwold, England
Southwold is a charming seaside town located in North Suffolk, along the Suffolk Heritage Coast. This small town of roughly 1,500 inhabitants is largely surrounded by water, with the North Sea washing against the eastern shoreline, the harbour and the River Blyth to the southwest, and Buss Creek in the north. There is only one road which leads in and out of Southwold. The Coastal Voyager is located at the harbour and from here you can arrange various different boat trips, such as a cruise on the River Blyth, the high-speed 'Blast' around Solebay, or a three-hour trip to Scroby Sands where you can view the wind farm and see seals. The town has a wide range of comfortable accommodation, with bed and breakfasts, self-catering cottages, camping sites and Southwold hotels located in and around the town. The Electric Picture Palace is a tiny cinema which Michael Palin opened in 2002. The 68 seat-venue is well worth a visit for the unique and authentic feel it offers. Southwold also has a number of nice restaurants and cosy inns which serve up tasty food.
