Located inward from the eastern coast of England is the small town of Saxmundham, in Suffolk. Access to the town is via the A12 road or the town's rail station on the East Suffolk Line. Most Saxmundham hotels are clustered around the rail station. Several bed and breakfasts are located along the Main Road, north of town. There are not many attractions in the town itself, other than the St John the Baptist Church, and visitors will have to travel out of town to see nearby attractions. The most famous nearby attraction is Leiston Abbey, located east of Saxmundham in the town of Leiston. Family visitors will enjoy a day out at the Parham Airfield Museum in Woodbridge, southeast of the town. Admission is free and the museum is a tribute to the 390th Bomb Group and Allied Air Forces. For shopping, eating and concerts, visitors can head south to Snape Maltings on the River Alde. This multi-function centre was developed by the Gooderham family and offers rooms for overnight stays.
