Introduction to Sandbach, England
The town of Sandbach is in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, in the north of England. Once a traditional market town, Sandbach has evolved into a useful stopover for travellers using the M6 motorway north or south. However, it does have some attractions of its own which visitors passing through will find interesting. The area has an extensive series of canals, as it was once an important thoroughfare for canal boats transporting goods between the cities of the region. Nearby there is the Anderton Lift, which is considered one of England’s greatest engineering achievements. Canal boats were raised from one canal level to another in water filled 'lifts'. Many of the hotels in Sandbach are geared towards the convention industry or travellers who just need a convenient place to sleep for the night. Due to this popularity as a rest stop, there are plenty of places to eat and shop just off the motorway.
