Introduction to Saltash, England
Saltash is a beautiful town in western England, in Cornwall. As one of the largest towns in Cornwall, it attracts visitors from all over England, primarily during the peak summer months. It is known for the Tamar Bridge and the Royal Albert Bridge which span the River Tamar. Saltash hotels are located near these bridges or further north, near the China Fleet Country Club. The main museum is the Saltash Museum, which showcases the area's history in the salt and maritime industry. From Saltash, it is possible to explore numerous castles, such as Ince Castle, Pentillie Castle and Trematon Castle. The town is also famous for being home to the cottage of Mary Newman, Sir Francis Drake's wife, in Culver Road. The cottage is not always open to the public, so checking ahead is recommended. Those visiting Saltash in the summer should not miss the Saltash Town Regatta, which brings life to the waterfront with music and entertainment.
