Introduction to Runcorn, England
The industrial town and cargo port of Runcorn is one of the more important communities in Cheshire County. It lies along the southern bank of the River Mersey, just above the outlet to the Irish Sea, and is a major transport link for rail, road and water. Atop Halton Hill is Halton Castle, the main historic attraction in Runcorn. Although it lies in ruins, the castle offers outstanding views from its hilltop location, making it well worth a visit. In the heart of town is another major landmark, Norton Priory, complete with stately ruins, gardens and an interesting museum dedicated to the history of the area. Decent shopping can be found on High Street, Regent Street and Church Street, though Runcorn is not particularly famous for its dining or entertainment scene. The hotels in Runcorn are typical of mid-sized English industrial towns, though a few notable exceptions make this a great place for lodging. other spellings: runcorn otel, runcorn hotell, runcorn hote, runcorn hotles, runcorn hotle, runcorn hotes
