Introduction to Royston, England
The small town of Royston is situated in north Hertfordshire close to London's third busiest international airport, Stansted, and lies at the junction of the A10 and A505, close to both the A1(M) and M11 motorways. Visitors can easily reach the town from London, 69kms away, by taking a 45-minute drive along the M11 - making the town a favourite for day trippers and couples seeking a quiet and romantic weekend escape. Finding accommodation in town is easy with a large variety of Royston hotels in the centre as well as bed and breakfasts further out of town. The centre of the town is a great place for those who want to stay in one of the many historic inns and pubs dotted along the picturesque streets. Travellers who visit Royston can expect to find a good variety of things to see and do. Two ancient hospitals were founded here, dating back to 1200 and 1224, and in the town centre lies the mysterious Royston Cave, discovered here in 1742 but about whose origins and function little is known. One idyllic and quiet green area is Therfield Heath, a favourite for joggers and those who want to walk in beautiful green surrounds. The town now hosts an Arts Festival annually in late September or early October.other spellings: roytonhotels, royson otel, roystn hotell, roystun hote, loystun hotle, royston hotes
