The small town of Rochford is situated in Essex, not far from the mouth of the Thames River and well-connected by train to both Southend and London Liverpool Street. It was extensively bombed during WWII due to its proximity to Southend Airport. With a population of roughly 8,000, the town is highly industrialised, but still offers visitors a number of things to see and do. Visitors can expect to find a wide choice of accommodation options available. Rochford hotels are fairly simple, but cheap and offer a comfortable place to rest over night, while boutique cottages and B&Bs are located throughout the surrounding countryside. Golfers can head to the Rochford Hundred Golf Club, housed in a Grade 1 listed building that dates back to 1480, while the nearby community of Southend-on-Sea is excellent for a swim on a hot summer's day.
