Introduction to Retford, England
Located in the central English county of Nottinghamshire, Retford is a small market town which boasts a population of roughly 20,000 and is accessible via the A614 or by the east coast main line railway. Robin Hood Airport is also nearby and is linked to the town by shuttle bus. Both the River Idle and the Chesterfield Canal run through the town, which boasts the unique architecture and small-town hospitality that are commonly found throughout in England. There is a Victorian town hall built in the French style along with the imposing St Swithuns Church, with its square tower. The Bassethaw Museum provides insights into local history. Retford hotels and accommodation are cheap and cheerful affairs, providing comfortable places to rest at night. Many lodgings are located around Exchange and Grove streets and housed in delightful old-fashioned buildings close to restaurants, pubs and cafes. One of the attractions here is the incredibly friendly nature of the local townspeople. Visitors can mingle with the locals at the open-air market that takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays while buying some delicious locally made produce.other spellings: retfodrhotels, otelin retfrod, hotell retofrd, reftord hote, ritford hotes, ratford hotle
