Perranporth is a small town located on the northwest coast of the county of Cornwall, in England. The town lies six kilometres southwest of the popular tourist resort of Newquay and 11kms northwest of the county town, Truro. This small seaside resort has a population of just over 3,000 inhabitants, although this number significantly increases during the summer months. The town centre boasts a variety of cafes and shops as well as several local bars. Many tourists visit Perranporth due to its wide sandy beach which stretches for almost three kilometres from the town to Ligger Point, to the northwest. Perran Beach is extremely popular among surfers as it faces west onto the Atlantic Ocean, and backing it there are extensive sand dunes that extend almost a mile inland. Towards the beach's south end are cliffs with natural stacks, natural arches and tin-mining adits (used to drain water from the mines), making it an excellent place to explore for those who don't enjoy lazing about on the beach. In October, there is an inter-Celtic festival which attracts visitors from all six Celtic nations. There is no shortage of Perranporth hotels located throughout the town and catering for visitors on all kinds of budget.
