Introduction to Northallerton, England
In the district of North Yorkshire is the classic market town of Northallerton. The Romans originally established the settlement here, but the hamlet grew in importance during the 11th century as the location of the Battle of the Standard between the English and the Scots. Today, Northallerton is a typical English agricultural town with a pleasant historic high street and regular livestock and farming fairs mixed with biweekly open air markets in the centre of town.
