Introduction to Newton Aycliffe, England
The distinction of the oldest new town in northern England falls to Newton Aycliffe, a small city in the northeast of the country. A large industrial estate forms much of the local economy here, making Newton a good example of a working-class northern England town. There are no tourist attractions in the city, but visitors can find a handful of hotels in Newton Aycliffe should they need a place to sleep. The local amenities include the usual array of English restaurants, pubs and shops though without a High Street or a cathedral, there is little to look at. For any sense of history, visitors need to venture to the older village of Aycliffe, which has a few notable sights like St Andrew's Church. The town is connected to the rest of the country by rail on the Tees Valley Line and by road via the A1 and A167 motorways. Two very nice golf courses lie just outside the town, and there is an auto racing track and local football club as well. other spellings: newtonaycliffe otel, newtan aycliffe hotell, newton acliffe hote, newton ayclife hotles
