Introduction to Newquay - City Centre
Newquay, Britain's surfing capital, is made of seven miles of sand along Cornwall's Atlantic coast. Three of its 11 beaches are in the city centre, most accessible from Newquay City Centre hotels. At low tide, Great Western Beach unites with neighboring Tolcarne and Towan beaches, creating a mile-long stretch ideal for novice surfers. Experts ride at Fistral Beach, where waves crest at 40 feet and international surfing competitions have been hosted for decades. To the east of Newquay Bay lie Lusty Glaze, Porth and Whipsiderry beaches, which offer rock climbing, kite boarding, mountain biking, zip-wiring, abseiling and coasteering. Rent waverunners or kayaks on the Celtic Sea or explore the city's surf shops by segway or bicycle. Families will enjoy the Blue Reef Aquarium, the city's unique zoo, Water World and Dairyland. Visitors can participate in green tourism and learn local history on the Discovery Trail, starting at the city centre. While summer is the peak tourist season, a Volkswagen event in May and the Newquay Fish Festival in September are off-season highlights. With the bus and railway stations located right in town, it is easy to reach Newquay city centre, but hard to find a reason to leave. other spellings: newquayhotels city center, new quay city otel, newqauy hotell center, hote new qauy
