Introduction to Milton Keynes - Campbell Park
Campbell Park is both a district and a large park in the centre of the Buckinghamshire New Town of Milton Keynes. The park is a pretty urban mix of woodland, formal gardens, open countryside and specially introduced decorative features. It is home to the town's annual City Spectacular and New Year's Eve Fireworks Display. Its water gardens are especially attractive, with their streams, lily ponds, fountains and pergola overlooking the cricket pitch. Horseback riding and walking trails line the edges of the park, spilling over into the Grand Union Canal's route and Ouzel Valley Park. Campbell Park district lies in the eastern and south-central areas of Milton Keynes. It includes several residential areas as well as Willen Lake, with its water sports, Buddhist Peace Pagoda and nature reserve, historic Willen Village with its classic Baroque 17th century church and the two ancient villages of Great and Little Woolstone, bordered by the Grand Union Canal and the River Ouzel. Campbell Park hotels make a good base for visitors wishing to explore the historic areas around the New Town.
