Introduction to Middlewich, England
Middlewich is another of England's historic salt towns dating back to the times of the Romans. Although that industry has long gone, Middlewich remains a good destination for boating, fishing, cycling and other recreation. It sits at the junction of the Trent and Mersey, the Wardel and the Shropshire Union canals, all of which are excellent for leisurely water activities. Three rivers add to the watery fun. The town itself is made up mainly of brick buildings, so it doesn't have quite as much aesthetic charm as other English market towns in Cheshire. The town has made serious efforts in recent years to boost tourism, in particular by creating the Folk and Boat Festival, a Roman and Norman Festival and regular farmers' markets. There are some lovely ancient churches in town, as well as a few Roman ruins. Middlewich hotels are typical of other small market towns, usually tidy and well-managed.other spellings: middlewihchotels, otel middlewcih, middleiwch hotell, middlweich hote, middelwich
