Introduction to Melksham, England
Known as Milk Town when it was a thriving Anglo Saxon settlement, the small town of Melksham is located in Wiltshire. The town is wrapped in rich history, as many of its most prominent buildings demonstrate. The commanding Masonry Lodge dates back to the early part of the 19th century, when a large group of Freemasons lived in the town. The world famous Chaloner Lodge of Freemasons is particularly striking, and was named after Richard Godolphin Walmesley Chaloner, the first Baron Gisborough. Many of the town's old buildings have been converted into leading Melksham hotels, which are proud to be able to offer their guests a wide range of services. Melksham is also famous for its 19th century spa, which was founded by Melksham Spa Company. People travel here from all over the world to soak away their aches and pains surrounded by the intense natural beauty of the Wiltshire countryside.
