Introduction to Market Harborough, England
The town of Market Harborough can be found on the border of the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire regions in central England. This picturesque market town actually contains two smaller villages. Little Bowden lies just a kilometre or so away from the middle of town, while just a little further away lies Great Bowden, which can be found over a hill. St Dionysius Parish Church, which dates back to 1470, is Market Harborough's tallest building, but an even more unique landmark is located next door to the church. The town's Old Grammar School was built on wooden stilts in 1614 and educated many students who eventually attended Oxford, Cambridge, and other prestigious universities. Other historic buildings include its old fire station, its old town hall, and the Harborough Museum housed inside a former corset factory which contains archaeological finds from the Roman Empire. Most Market Harborough hotels are rural type accommodation such as bed and breakfast establishments, cottages, campsites and even working farms.
