Maidstone sits astride the Medway in Kent and is a favourite town for commuters going to nearby London. The range of accommodation includes hotels in Maidstone as well as reasonably priced guest houses. Being situated between London and Dover resulted in Maidstone being a busy trading centre and its history records the influences of battles, revolts, industrialists and brewers. Centrally located hotels in Maidstone provide good access to local shops, bars and restaurants and the town centre is a pleasant place to spend a few hours. Attractions worth visiting in the town include three museums, an art gallery and All Saints Church. Probably the most famous attraction near Maidstone is Leeds Castle attracting many visitors. Kent is famous for hops and the Hop Farm Country Park has several attractions and events.
