Introduction to Lynton, England
Few English seaside resorts can boast surroundings as beautiful as the Devon community of Lynton. Stunning cliffs act as the backdrops to the town and its twin, Lynmouth. The town is famous as the setting of the novel Lorna Doone, and has completely recovered from a 1952 flood which devastated both Lynton and Lynmouth. There are no shortage of picturesque Lynton hotels and guest houses, most of which are situated close to the sea. Another picturesque building is its Parish Church of St Mary, whose tower dates back to the 13th century, while nearby Lynmouth has a Flood Memorial Hall where visitors can compare what the area looked like before and after the 1952 flood. These two towns are connected by two scenic hiking trails, roads which are steep and winding, and a railway which has run twice a day between them since 1890. Summer visitors can purchase ice cream cones and many other souvenirs at the seaside shops.other spellings: lyntonhotels, lymton otel, lyntno hotell, lynotn hote, lytnon hotle, lnyton hotes
