Introduction to London - Kensington
Posh to the point of exasperation, London’s exclusive enclave of Kensington is one of the prettiest and most tranquil neighbourhoods in the capital. The High Street runs through the heart of this densely-packed area, dominated by cool Art Deco buildings that house some of the hottest names in retail and fashion. South Kensington is the other popular hub of commercial activity here, connecting to Exhibition Road where some of London’s most prestigious museums, such as the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, are located. Numerous residential green squares are complemented by the sprawling royal Kensington Gardens and Holland Park to create a wonderfully natural balance. Hyde Park is just around the corner for days of outdoor recreation and ambling. Several colleges ring the neighbourhood and major performance venues like the Royal Albert Hall feature a steady line-up of world-class acts. Kensington hotels don’t come cheap but their prime location and overall level of style and comfort are well worth the cost. Visit our London Travel Guide
