Introduction to Littlehampton, England
The West Sussex town of Littlehampton may be just 28kms west of the popular seaside resort of Brighton, but it also has much to offer as a place to visit. One of the town's main attractions is East Beach, the longest in all of Great Britain and the location of several Littlehampton hotels. Those searching for a more secluded beach location to sunbathe or stay will find it in the much smaller, but no less picturesque, West Beach. West Beach is also the location of the ruins of an 1854 Napoleonic fort and its sand dunes are considered a Site of Scientific Interest. Beyond the beaches, the town's attractions include a casino, a miniature railway, and the many thrilling rides at Harbour Park. The best views of both major beaches, as well as the nearby South Downs National Park, can be enjoyed from the observation tower at the Look and Sea Centre. The local museum is filled with fascinating interactive exhibits.
