Introduction to Leiston, England

The town of Leiston, along with the adjoining village of Sizewell, is located on the coast of Suffolk, roughly halfway between Lowestoft in the north and Felixstowe in the south. The town's administrative area has a population of roughly 5,500 inhabitants and High Street offers a number of shops and services. There is a weekly market every Friday in the car park of the Crown Inn, near the centre of the town. The Long Shop Museum informs visitors about over 200 years of life and work in Leiston. In the museum, there is an interesting collection of objects which range from full-size steam engines to mementoes from the lives of the town's working people from years gone by. The museum also informs about the area's history and has displays about nearby Sizewell nuclear power station. The town has a few Leiston hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfasts to choose from, although you will not be spoilt for choice.
