Introduction to Lancaster, England
Lancaster is a small university city with a history going back thousands of years. The Lancaster hotels located in the centre of the city are best placed for discovering its cultural heritage. The medieval castle is at the heart of Lancaster and more history can be found at the City Museum in the former Town Hall in Market Square and in the Maritime Museum located on the quayside. Although many hotels in Lancaster have restaurants, there are some great places to eat in the city along with entertaining theatres and excellent shopping. The River Lune Millennium Park has 15kms of foot and cycle paths linking Lancaster with Caton that is full public art including carvings, sculptures and Millennium Bridge at the Lancaster end. Hotels in Lancaster provide a great place to stay for those wanting to visit the Lake District National Park or the popular coastal town of Morecambe and Manchester is only an hour away.
