The picturesque Devon town of Kingsbridge grew up around the 10th century bridge across the narrow strait of the Kingsbridge estuary, extending to the sea some 10kms south of the town. Originally nestling between two Royal estates, the little market town was known for its part in the wool trade for several hundred years and is now the main market town in the area.
